Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 22, 2026
Doodle Twist ("we," "us") is a daily drawing challenge. This policy explains what information we collect,
how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email us at
mail@doodletwist.com.
What we collect
- When you create an account: your email address, username (which doubles as your
Instagram handle if you opt into winner tagging), password, and — if you provide one — your phone number.
We also record which notification options you chose: whether you agreed to the Terms of Service and
Privacy Policy (required), whether you'd like email notifications, and whether you separately consented
to text messages.
- When you submit a drawing: the image you upload, an optional caption, and the email you
verified with.
- When you customize your profile: an optional bio, and which of your own past
submissions (up to 6) you choose to feature. Both are entirely optional and only appear if you set
them.
We don't collect payment information (Doodle Twist is currently free), and we don't use tracking cookies or
analytics services on this site.
How we use it
- Sending your daily prompt. Email and text are independent, optional notification
options — you can turn on both, either one, or neither when you sign up. If you opted into text messages
and gave us a phone number, we send prompts via Twilio, our SMS provider. If you opted into email
notifications, we email you the prompt directly. Either way, the daily prompt is also always viewable on
our Instagram story and on the Doodle Twist homepage — we never send prompts through Instagram, and you
don't need either notification option turned on to use the site.
- Reviewing submissions. Every submitted drawing is automatically evaluated once using
Anthropic's Claude AI, which checks it against content guidelines and scores it for the day's challenge.
Your image is sent to Anthropic's API for this single evaluation.
- Publishing approved drawings. Approved submissions are posted publicly on this website
along with your username/Instagram handle and caption. Winners may also be posted to our Instagram account
— and we'll only tag your handle if you gave us permission when you subscribed.
- Identifying your submissions. Your email is used to match submissions to your subscriber
profile. Your email itself is never displayed publicly.
- Your public profile page. Every account has a public profile page (reachable at
doodletwist.com/profile.html?u=yourusername and linked from your name anywhere it appears on the site)
showing your username, your bio if you've set one, and up to 6 submissions you've chosen to feature.
Visitors can also find your profile by searching usernames on our profile search page. Nothing on your
profile page is private — don't add anything to your bio you don't want public. If you deactivate your
account (see "Your choices" below), your profile page stops being reachable entirely, as if it never
existed.
Where your data lives
- Subscriber info and submission records are stored in Google Sheets and Google Drive (Google Workspace).
- Approved drawing images and their public details (username, caption, date, prompt) are stored in a public
GitHub repository that hosts this website.
- Text messages are delivered through Twilio, which processes your phone number per
Twilio's privacy policy.
- Submission images are evaluated via the Anthropic API per
Anthropic's privacy
policy.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal information.
- We don't share your contact details with anyone except the service providers listed above, and only as
needed to run Doodle Twist.
- We don't send marketing beyond the daily prompt loop you signed up for.
Text messaging terms
Text messages require a separate, dedicated consent checkbox at signup — it's never bundled with agreeing
to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and it's never checked by default. If you opt in, you'll receive
about one message per day with the drawing prompt, plus an occasional note if you win. Message and data
rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts, or HELP
for help. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of signing up — you can opt into email notifications
instead or in addition, or skip both and check the daily prompt on our Instagram story or the Doodle Twist
homepage.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe: reply STOP to any text, or email us and we'll remove you.
- Take down a drawing: email us and we'll remove your submission from the site.
- Deactivate your account: toggle this anytime from your account settings page. It stops
daily prompts and other notifications, blocks new submissions, and takes your public profile page down
(it reads as "not found" to anyone who visits it, the same as a username that was never registered) — but
it doesn't delete your account. Log back in and reactivate whenever you want, and everything comes back
exactly as you left it.
- See or delete your data: email us at
mail@doodletwist.com and we'll share what we have on file or
delete it.
Children
Doodle Twist isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you
believe a child under 13 has subscribed, email us and we'll remove them.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes (like adding paid plans or new services), we'll update this page and the date
at the top.
